I'm Matt and I grew up in the suburbs of Image City, Rochester, NY. I graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in photographic illustration where I studied photojournalism. I've worked at four daily newspapers in New England and the Carolinas.
I live in Rochester's South Wedge with my cat Lola. It's a love/hate relationship. When I'm not making photographs, you can find me running with my run club, Stride, which is known as Rochester's young, hot running club.
As a photojournalist, I am drawn to moments and stories that are full of life and the qualities that define the human condition. I strive to make work that reflects that. For me, making images is an experience that is characterized by emotion and I want my images to engage the emotions and senses of the viewer.
My work has appeared in USA TODAY, Associated Press, Getty Images, NPR, the Washington Post, the New York Times and ProPublica.
Drop me a line or give me a call and let's make some work together.
