In February, I volunteered a couple days with my alma mater, Rochester Institute of Technology while current photography students, most of them studying photojournalism, worked on a major project covering the Special Olympics and creating a beautiful website showcasing their work. You can see an edit of their work here - https://specialolympics.cad.rit.edu/
Beginning back in 2016 or 2017 when I volunteered at InSight Photography Project in Brattleboro, VT, I realized I enjoy working with young people who are just discovering their interest in photography. It's a joy to watch them revel in their success, feel inspired and problem-solve in real time. RIT specifically, is a powerhouse churning out incredibly talented photographers every year and I would be nowhere without my time there. I remember how difficult and at times, scary it was for me to learn how to photograph people and step out of my comfort zone in a variety of ways. It was a pleasure to help direct some of these students and to encourage them to challenge themselves by confronting a little bit of discomfort.
